CAN i go
NOW? YOU PUT YOUR FRIENDS THROUGH
( h e l l )
THAT'S WHY WE GET ALONG SO
( w e l l )
Inside looking out of my window
I can see you passing by
With you, it's right where I wanna be
I wanna call your name but I'm too shy
I can see you passing by
With you, it's right where I wanna be
I wanna call your name but I'm too shy
Stretched out across Rachel's rather large bed, Natalie lifted up her feet to see her freshly painted red toenails. She smiled slightly at the outcome and put her legs back down, staring up at the ceiling with a dazed expression.
"So," Jen said, laying down next to Natalie, "Who's this guy who knocked you up?"
"No one special," Natalie told her, speaking in complete truth, "His name's Jake and he's a complete asshole."
"Is he coming to the party tonight?" Jen asked, sitting up and running her fingers through her straight blonde hair.
Natalie nodded slightly, feeling suddenly as if she might puke, "Yeah," she said, "Probably only because there's going to be girls though..." she added distantly.
"Are you really going to let him come here just to get it on with your friends?" Mandy chimed in from the bathroom a few feet away where she was busily putting on eyeliner.
Natalie shrugged and said, "It's not like we're dating..."
"But you wish that you were," Rachel said, walking into the bedroom and sitting down on the dresser.
Natalie groaned, pulling a blue pillow over her head and asking, "Is it really that obvious?"
Jen grabbed the pillow away from her, hitting her on the head with it, "Wow, Stupid, I thought you said he was an asshole."
"He is..." Natalie whined, "I hate him. I really hate him. But I can't stop thinking about him..."
"Well yeah," Mandy said, laughing slightly, "His child's inside of you."
"Why the hell are you laughing?" Natalie asked, sitting up and fixing her hair, "There's nothing funny about any of this..."
"Go get an abortion," Rachel said quietly, "Beg forgiveness from Kev."
"I can't..." Natalie muttered.
Jen turned to face Natalie and said, "You're only keeping it because you think it gives you a chance to be with him."
Natalie shook her head, saying quietly, "Time for a subject change."
"Is Jack coming?" Mandy asked, walking in from the bathroom and sitting on Jen's lap.
Natalie shrugged and said, "He left like two hours ago, at five, to go to Chicago for band stuff... He might stop by later though."
"Your bro's sexy," Jen said quietly, laughing.
Rachel nodded and said, "He really is."
"He's also engaged," Natalie pointed out, shoving Jen, "And his fiance's pregnant."
Mandy turned around and said, "This is news to me, who's the girl?"
"Sam Harcourt," Rachel said simply.
Jen nodded and said, "She seems sweet... I don't really know her but still."
"Yeah," Natalie said, "I approve of her. They're great together too..."
Rachel looked at her clock and said, "It's almost seven. We should start getting ready. I told people to come between seven thirty and eight."

This emotion is strong
I've had a crush for so long
What should I do
I've had a crush for so long
What should I do
Natalie laughed and sat down on the counter, crossing her legs and saying, "Beer me!"
Rachel tossed her a bottle, asking, "Aren't you not supposed to drink while pregnant?"
"One drink won't hurt," Natalie said quietly, opening it.
"Yeah it will," Mandy said, "When you say that almost every day... Maybe the baby will be born dead."
"Don't say that," Natalie said, frowning as she tossed the bottle back to Rachel.
Mandy shrugged and said, "It'd be for the better."
"Jake sure would be pleased," Natalie muttered, shaking her head.
Jen sat next to Natalie, giving her a quick hug and saying, "Why'd you invite this guy anyway? You only have shit to say about him."
Natalie shrugged, "He's my child's father," she explained, "And I'd like to convince him that he should at least have some role in the kid's upbringing..."
"How old's this guy again?" Rachel asked her.
"Twenty-four," Natalie responded, running her fingers through her dark brown curls.
"Sounds like he's still too young to be a responsible man," Jen said, "Wait until he's like thirty."
"Is he sexy?" Mandy chimed in randomly.
"Yes," Natalie said, exhaling deeply with a slight smile, "So very sexy... He's tall, muscular, black hair, green eyes... He'd be everything if he got a personality make-over."
Rachel nodded and said, "Kev's intelligence, thoughtfulness, and potential mixed with Jake's looks."
"Exactly," Natalie told her, "Is Kev coming tonight?"
"Nope," Rachel said, "Thought I'd spare you the drama."
Natalie nodded, "Thanks," she said, "I really miss him though."
"Oh shut up," Jen said teasingly, "If he was good he could've forgiven you."
"Right..." Mandy muttered, just as the doorbell rang.

Whenever I see you
I wanna be near you
I think that I'm feeling
My first taste of love

My first taste of love
Natalie walked around the house slowly, looking at the floor. Although she knew many of the guests very well, she said not a word to anyone. On most occasions such as this, she would be trying to attract as much attention to herself as humanly possible, succeeding the majority of the time. However, she had an empty feeling in her stomach and often found herself staring at the door, perhaps in hope that Jake would walk in. "Cool it," she'd tell herself, "He's an ass, not meant for you." Still, she caught herself looking up every time the doorbell rang.
Eventually, she sat down on the couch next to her friend Tyler, sighing as he put his arm around her and politely declining as he offered her a sip of his beer. She listened half-heartedly as he spoke to a small group of people around them, and every once in awhile she would mutter in agreement to things he said.
Growing bored, she found herself staring at her clothing. She was dressed simply- very short, dark blue, jean shorts that hugged her tan thighs; a simple white tank top; and black lace-up sandals. Her eyes strayed up to her hair, hanging over her shoulders in thick waves. She leaned her head against Tyler's shoulder, closing her eyes and drifting into a light state of unconciousness.

It's only about you

"Nat," Jen said, leaning over the top of the couch and tapping Natalie on the shoulder, "Wake up?"
"Come on," Tyler said, shoving Jen away slighly, "She's been asleep for like five minutes."
Jen rolled her eyes and said, "Yeah, and it's not even nine."
Natalie sat up, rubbing her forehead, and asked, "What is it?"
"Is that him?" Jen asked quietly, motioning to a tall figure in the crowd, already surrounded by a few girls that Natalie immediately classified as the school sluts.
Natalie stared hazily for a minute before snapping awake and saying rather loudly, "Holy shit! Yeah!"
"Shut up," Jen hissed.
Tyler rolled his eyes and shoved Jen away again, saying, "You're really annoying tonight, Jay."
Jen hit Tyler on the top of the head and said, "Retard."
Natalie stood up and asked Jen in a whisper, "What should I do?"
"You invited him," Jen whispered, "Go talk."
Natalie shook her head and said, "No.. I mean.. He's talking to Brandi.. He won't give her up for me."
"Natalie," Jen said in a harsh whisper, "Are you fucking retarded? You own the school. Everyone loves you. She's nothing compared to you."
"It's true," Tyler agreed.
"Alright," Natalie said, taking a deep breath before she began to walk.

My friends tell me you're thinking
That you're thinking about me too
I got your number, sittin' by the Telephone
What will I say if I get through
That you're thinking about me too
I got your number, sittin' by the Telephone
What will I say if I get through
She walked over, putting her hand on Brandi's shoulder and saying a quick hello before pushing her lightly out of the way. She looked up at Jake, giving him a smile and then kissing him softly on the lips. "Hey," she said quietly, as she pulled away, leaving a couple inches of space inbetween them. She began to speak again but stopped immediately as she felt something move down her leg. She looked down and gasped, staring at the blood stain running down her shorts an to her lower thigh.
She stood there for a moment before turning away and running to the stairs, bolting up them and into Rachel's room where she locked herself. She walked into the bathroom, grabbing a tampon before changing into some of Rachel's underwear and pajama shorts. Tears running down her cheeks, she sat on the bed, biting her lip and staring at the floor.
"Nat..." she heard Mandy say from the other side of the door.
"Just leave me be," Natalie said quietly, laying back and coverin her face with a pillow.
"Are you alright?" Rachel's voice chimed in.
"I'm fine," Natalie said, managing to hide the distress from her voice as she choked back a sob.
